Still Standing on My Two Feet Cuz I'm a Child of God

God is good to give so much
School & work were a real nice touch
A friend who loves me enough to stay
A place to live & grow & play
As I review in retrospect
I tell God, "I don't object,
To any of those harder days.
Thank you, Lord" I softly pray
This coming year I will improve
A brand new start. A recent move
My past mistakes I can't erase
Or move the walls before my face
But it is me that will choose how
For I can choose what will be now

No Matter How They Tossed the Dice, It Had To Be

One year from where we want to be
One day from our infinity
The only thing I need to see
Is that you still are here with me

The Rain, The Storms, The Hardest Nights

Laura Story - "Blessings"

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It's not our home

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

Lighten Our Minds With its Rays

I cannot wait. I cannot wait.
To hear the words they'll speak
I'll toss and turn and pace around
Until the days are done this week
It's time for General Conference

Tell the Story of Grace

Between the satin sheets I lay,
Reflecting on my doings today
Moonlight shines as if sun rays
And gently rests upon my face

A truer friend is hard to find
Who understands both soul and mind
All hell 'n heaven close entwined
Yet loves so deep and pure and kind

Fear melts slowly into calm
As I relate my long-lived psalm
And watch my friend apply the balm
Of friendship and of Christendom

This moment I thought, "God is good!"
To give me far more than He should
With this exemplar I have stood
Long before I understood

The moment when at home in ease
I felt myself fall to my knees
As feeling all my heart did seize
"Go see if she needs help from me"

A bit awkward I went to her heart
Let myself in to ne'er depart
That night was just a simple start
To a lifelong masterpiece of art

She is my friend and watch-care rock
She "lets" me sort her clothes 'n socks
Though when she runs, I sometimes walk
My better self she does unlock

'Mid giants we must live and strive
For this is how we work and thrive
It's far more than to just survive
Be taller, better & more alive

I'm grateful for my sister dear
Who takes away my pain and fear
Who fills my life with endless cheer
And makes it seem that heaven's near

When God said to go check and see
If she needed help from Him through me
What He truly meant to speak
Was, "Child, you need help from she"

Stand In The Rain

I had a strange dream the night before last
That rainclouds were gathering and blackening fast
The air grew heavy and the winds grew strong
Everything was in chaos. Everything went wrong.
The rain started and seemed it would never end
Such a multitude of rain the heavens did send
As it filled up the streets and gutters so full
I felt in my heart a fearful desire take hold
I took a timid step from beneath my dry place
I waded into the puddles, the rain on my face
With arms open wide I looked up to the sky
I let the water soak me and watched my fears die
I awoke in a start and rolled over with ease
And decided my phantom was digesting peas
'Til the next day while driving so far
A song on the radio filled up my car
"Stand in the rain. You stand your ground
Stand up even when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain. You won't drown
And one day what is lost all can be found"
A shiver shot from my toes to my spine
As I heard the words that really were mine
I thought of my nightmare the evening before
And realized that God had meant so much more
So though I fear that by standing I'll fall
I'll do my best to rise and give it my all

It Well May Be That We May Never Meet Again In This Lifetime

When I am down and out of heart
I head up the hill to my dear friend
When I am hurting & torn a part
She skillfully takes my soul to mend

I am not hers & she's not mine
But I claim her goodness as my guide
She taught me how to grow & shine
To turn & face fear instead of hide

She was kind and true and sweet
She brought me up high when I was low
She could not stand up to her feet
But yet stood taller than most I know

Although she's gone away from here
To a bigger pond in a much bigger wood
I will keep her sweet spirit near
For she has changed my life for good
