omething is calling my name
mid all the noise of this game
ike a dull ache I can't explain
hat takes hold and will not refrain
eading me somewhere anew
way from the grey and the blue
eeping me from running on through
very other bright color and hue
alling, calling, calling my name
I  nside my heart and inside my brain
elling me it and myself are the same
onder my thoughts will wander again

Still Standing on My Two Feet Cuz I'm a Child of God

God is good to give so much
School & work were a real nice touch
A friend who loves me enough to stay
A place to live & grow & play
As I review in retrospect
I tell God, "I don't object,
To any of those harder days.
Thank you, Lord" I softly pray
This coming year I will improve
A brand new start. A recent move
My past mistakes I can't erase
Or move the walls before my face
But it is me that will choose how
For I can choose what will be now

No Matter How They Tossed the Dice, It Had To Be

One year from where we want to be
One day from our infinity
The only thing I need to see
Is that you still are here with me

The Rain, The Storms, The Hardest Nights

Laura Story - "Blessings"

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It's not our home

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

Tell the Story of Grace

Between the satin sheets I lay,
Reflecting on my doings today
Moonlight shines as if sun rays
And gently rests upon my face

A truer friend is hard to find
Who understands both soul and mind
All hell 'n heaven close entwined
Yet loves so deep and pure and kind

Fear melts slowly into calm
As I relate my long-lived psalm
And watch my friend apply the balm
Of friendship and of Christendom

This moment I thought, "God is good!"
To give me far more than He should
With this exemplar I have stood
Long before I understood

The moment when at home in ease
I felt myself fall to my knees
As feeling all my heart did seize
"Go see if she needs help from me"

A bit awkward I went to her heart
Let myself in to ne'er depart
That night was just a simple start
To a lifelong masterpiece of art

She is my friend and watch-care rock
She "lets" me sort her clothes 'n socks
Though when she runs, I sometimes walk
My better self she does unlock

'Mid giants we must live and strive
For this is how we work and thrive
It's far more than to just survive
Be taller, better & more alive

I'm grateful for my sister dear
Who takes away my pain and fear
Who fills my life with endless cheer
And makes it seem that heaven's near

When God said to go check and see
If she needed help from Him through me
What He truly meant to speak
Was, "Child, you need help from she"

Stand In The Rain

I had a strange dream the night before last
That rainclouds were gathering and blackening fast
The air grew heavy and the winds grew strong
Everything was in chaos. Everything went wrong.
The rain started and seemed it would never end
Such a multitude of rain the heavens did send
As it filled up the streets and gutters so full
I felt in my heart a fearful desire take hold
I took a timid step from beneath my dry place
I waded into the puddles, the rain on my face
With arms open wide I looked up to the sky
I let the water soak me and watched my fears die
I awoke in a start and rolled over with ease
And decided my phantom was digesting peas
'Til the next day while driving so far
A song on the radio filled up my car
"Stand in the rain. You stand your ground
Stand up even when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain. You won't drown
And one day what is lost all can be found"
A shiver shot from my toes to my spine
As I heard the words that really were mine
I thought of my nightmare the evening before
And realized that God had meant so much more
So though I fear that by standing I'll fall
I'll do my best to rise and give it my all

It Well May Be That We May Never Meet Again In This Lifetime

When I am down and out of heart
I head up the hill to my dear friend
When I am hurting & torn a part
She skillfully takes my soul to mend

I am not hers & she's not mine
But I claim her goodness as my guide
She taught me how to grow & shine
To turn & face fear instead of hide

She was kind and true and sweet
She brought me up high when I was low
She could not stand up to her feet
But yet stood taller than most I know

Although she's gone away from here
To a bigger pond in a much bigger wood
I will keep her sweet spirit near
For she has changed my life for good

One More Time

I have no special message
I desperately want to display
I simply want to say my friend
I'm sorry it ended this way

I have no deep thought pondering
Tied to a lovely rhyme
I simply want to say my friend
Thank you for the time

I have no "aha" moment
To lay this clearly forth
I simply want to say my friend
For me it was all of great worth

I have no perfect ending
As I lay down to rest
I simply want to say my friend
I wish you all the best

You're Gonna Grow Into Something That Death Can't Steal

Good Timber by Douglas Malloch

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease:
The stronger wind, the stronger trees;
The further sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth,
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.

Dear God

One thirty came and went
my emotions nearly spent
Into the ground I've sent
Regrets I never meant

'Fore the flower comes the seed
Staying here is what I need
See it out 'til I succeed
I will work until I bleed

I stopped counting the days
Heavenward I send my praise
In a desperate effort of displays
I mean more than these cliches

Flowers, cookies, love and notes
Cause a small lump in my throat
Keeping my sinking head afloat
In every step I will devote

It's been a long, hard set
But God's not done with me yet
And I will make a daring bet
These are the days I won't forget

I’ve Seen A Lot Of Joy And I’ve Seen A Lot Of Pain

I have not been given the gift
Of saying the words that lift
I never know when to embrace
Or dry the tears from a face
But God has blessed me, you see
With a smiling capacity
I'll make you chuckle
When your knees start to buckle
I'll strengthen your tenacity

This Is Gonna Sound Like A Bad Joke

So what happens when what you wanted
Is what you have
And what you have
Scares you more than words
But what scares you worse
Is what you need
But what you need
Might not be there anymore

What happens then?

A Brutally Honest Post That I Should Probably Just Keep To Myself

Are boys like jeans?
Say you find a pair that you really like, but you don't buy them cuz you're not sure they're really going to make you happy.
You go home, and find yourself thinking about them and thinking about how you should've bought them and how you should be wearing them right now.
Every day when you get dressed you wish you could slip them on again.
Maybe you even go back to the store, find them and you try them on, but you realize they cost too much for you right then at that time. So you put them back on the shelf and try and rationalize that you don't really need them.
Later when you are in a more stable position and you can afford to take the risk and buy them and let them make your wardrobe complete and make you the happiest jeans wearer ever, you don't go back to the store to get them, because you figure it's probably been too long and you probably can't find them. Or they are probably sold out and some other lucky girl is wearing them already.
What can you do? Can you really go back? Maybe you've already been back..2 or 3 times and you end up in the same place every time.
Maybe the jeans will look you in the face and tell you to never come back again because they've moved on.
Are boys like jeans?

Probably not.
But that doesn't change the fact that it's been months, and I still haven't bought another pair. Or even tried one on. In fact, I don't even go jeans shopping anymore, because I always just end up comparing them to the ones I should've saved up for and bought while I could.

But Six Rings, And I Rise

Dear Daydream,
I apologize for not visiting
Life has become so structured
No time for wistful thinking
I haven't drawn a single figure
My books are dust collecting
No time for poems conjured

This letter is my only attempt
To make amends with your contempt

Your forever, but temporarily withheld friend,
Kasey

No Need To Say Goodbye

The rain falls in pre-ordered satisfaction
As you drive slowly away from here
Leave me in my blood red mode of action
To face the day with little fear

The dissonace of sound doesn't bother me
No, freely I accept the notes
Pitter. Patter. Even God weeps, you see
The water soaks through my coat

Looking toward the evading heavens I pray
Remembering that my God is good
"The journey, the love, the people," I say
"Thank you, for the places I've stood."

Transitioning, knowing I cannot return again
A poison drink laced with good intent
Striking blindly into the dark with a steady pen
Unsure sadness wrapped in complete content

For most, the water stings on cold wet skin
But not for me, today, my friend
Though the greyness taunts and prods to win
The raindrops cause my tears to blend

Feel The Rain On Your Face

Let's talk about the rain
Cuz it's impossible to refrain
From this watery world of happiness
Where we come to forget our pain

With the excitement of a child
Without reservation we run wild
Kicking up the puddled streets
We skipped and sung and smiled

The rain holds today together
Frustration flees in this weather
But here and now the rain will fall
So let the heavens come nether

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

My head is in the clouds
And I like it that-a way
